To begin class today, we had our usual reading time (DEAR) & binder checks.
Then we picked up where we left of in our discussion of the senses & perceiving our surroundings.
We broke into groups to do a Senses Experiment outdoors. In each team there was a blinded person, a guide, & a recorder. The guide took the blinded person around the grounds exposing them to 10 different stimulus (wet grass, fragrant leaves, warm glass, etc...). The blinded person would describe each stimulus & the recorder would take notes throughout the experiment.
Then we wrote a paragraph reflecting on what it was like not having the sense of sight. How did you compensate? How did it feel having to be aware of surroundings for another person?
Lastly, we defined perception & began a discussion on perceptual inference. We examined a series of photographs & derived concepts from the images.
We will pick up here on Tuesday.
